The Jalsu Plantation Project

Lucy Larcom once quoted, “He who plants a tree, plants a hope.” The Jalsu plantation project was an initiative by me, Ishan Sukhani, which was set up with the help of some of the local business of my city, Jaipur, to help our small neighbouring village of Jalsu receive rainfall after the scorching summer season in our desert state of Rajasthan. The idea for the project came to me when me and my Bua (aunty) got to know from one of the brick contractors - himself a citizen of Jalsu - who worked for her company that our neighbouring village hadn't received any rainfall for the past 2 farming seasons. Now, for a village whose whole economy is agrarian, the times seemed to be quite difficult. After thinking about this newly found information, we decided that being in a position to help the needy, we should do something.
